I asked Dennis to share this letter I sent to him.

 

Dear Dennis,

I don't know how to thank you and of course Kelly KI6IQA and all the rest of the great Hams who have been honoring me in such a special way by having my call sign on the Tower on Keller Peak . Someone told me that this is comparable the honor given to the movie stars who have their name placed on the Hollywood walk of fame. Thank you for giving me my “walk of life” honor on the tower of the greatest repeater in Ham radio.

I always said that when people are honored at their Memorial Services it is sad that they are not there to hear it and appreciate it. I feel so fortunate that I am receiving such great recognition and honor now and I'M STILL ALIVE to enjoy it! I am so grateful to be part of our great Amateur Radio system.

There is so much that I want to say; I have been honored many times by my wonderful daughter & son-in-law, Joyce & Gene Dery, and their families. I appreciate and love them very much - and I now realize more than ever that I have another wonderful family in Ham Radio, especially my friends on the Redeye.

My nephew, Gary Holmes, has even written and recorded a song in my honor – it is really cute and I hope that everyone can hear it soon. There is so much more to say – I could go on and on – but I will just say thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.  I love you all
